Eight media houses --Bangladesh Pratidin, Jagonews24.com, Daily Star, Channel i, Dhaka Tribune, Boishakhi TV, Bangla Vision and Dainik Samakal—reached the quarterfinal of the meet eliminating their rivals in group matches.
In the day’s group matches, Jagonews24.com beat Bangla Tribune by 4-1 goals, Channel i defeated Channel 24 3-0, Dhaka Tribune outplayed Dainik Sangbad 3-0, Bangladesh Pratidin beat Jugantor 2-0 while Dainik Samakal defeated Naya Diganta by 2-1 goals to book seat for the last eight.
Daily Star managed a quarterfinal berth after playing one-all draw with Kaler Kantho, Boishikhi TV reached quarterfinal as BSS played to a goalless draw with Ekushey TV while Bangla Vision assured the quarterfinal berth with unbeaten run, despite the Independent outplayed Deepto TV by 3-0 goals in their last group match.
All the four quarterfinals will be held Friday morning while the two semifinals and final match will be held on Saturday (October 5).
A total of 24 media teams of different newspapers, news agencies, electronic and online media, split into eight groups, took part on the league based group matches.
