“I believe that our middle-order will response in a positive way this time around. We are upbeat mentally. And, after winning the first Test of the series, we are ahead of our opponent,” Mominul toned up while talking to the reporters.
Bangladesh disappointed their fans as they managed to pass 200-runs mark only thrice in their last 12 Test innings. The fragile middle-order batting was the main concern of Bangladesh’s progress in Test cricket. Mominul believes, however, they can deliver something inspirational in the next Test.
“Cricket has always been a tough game in terms of mental attitude. So it is up to you how you want to take it. I think mentally we are at a good stage to deliver our best. Since we had a tremendous record at home, we are ahead of the West Indies in the second Test. And, we will take the field keeping a win in mind,” Mominul further added.
Bangladesh’s success in Test cricket heavily depends on the middle-order batsman, and Mominul is the one the main middle-order batsman of the Tigers. He struck a watchful ton in the first Test in Chattogram. But the batsman looked reluctant to talk much about this ahead of the final Test.
“We have started the series on a positive note, and now, want to play our best cricket again. This is the way how I think my game. We need to overcome the mistakes that we have made in the previous game.”
“It is difficult to perform keeping the personal milestones in mind. I don’t play thinking how many tons I have hit or how many I can strike. As a player, I always try to do something remarkable for the team. This type of thinking helps me to perform in the middle,” The left-handed batsman further said.
Jomel Warrican, the West Indian spinner, expressed their desperate desire to bounce back in the final Test to equalise the series. While talking during the practice session on Wednesday, he said: “Obviously, we want to win (the second Test), and don’t want to lose the series. If we draw the series from here, it will be a bonus for us. So that’s the plan before heading into this match.”
