It was Doleshwar’s sixth win and Sheikh Jamal’s fourth loss in the league’s eighth round matches.
Due to the sudden storm on Sunday evening, the match started at 1:20pm and was reduced to 26-over-a-side.
Farhad, a veteran all-rounder, recorded the fastest fifty in List-A cricket. He hit three fours and five sixes in 18 balls to surpass Nazmul Islam Milon’s previous record.
Milon hit the fifty for Dhaka Division against Khulna Division in the ODI format of the National Cricket League in 2007. It took him 19 balls.
Relying on Farhad’s fifty, Doleshwar posted a massive 239 for six wickets. Imran Uzzaman and Saad Nasim also scored fifties. While Imran posted 75 off 54 with six fours and four sixes, Saad posted 51 off 36 with four fours and two sixes.
For Sheikh Jamal, left-arm pacer Salahuddin Shakil bagged three wickets, while Taijul Islam, Elias Sunny and Ziaur Rahman took one each.
In reply, Sheikh Jamal ended up with 238 for nine wickets. They needed 11 runs in the final over which was bowled by Farhad. He conceded 10 runs to seal the game.
Despite losing wickets at regular intervals, Sheikh Jamal went close to win the game relying on Ziaru Rahman (46), Anustup Majumdar (44), Nurul Hasan (37) and Tanbir Hyder (36).
For Doleshwar, Farhad and Abu Jayed Rahi bagged three wickets each while Mohammad Arafat took two.
Farhad was adjudged the man of the match for his record-breaking fifty and three-wicket haul.
