Rain hit the second game of the three-match ODI series between Bangladesh and Sri Lanka on Sunday at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium.
Bangladesh were batting at 196 for seven 41.1 overs when the rain started for the first time . At that point in the game, Mushfiqur Rahim was unbeaten for 85.
The game resumed after a break of 24 minutes. The rain came back after 14 balls were bowled and Mushfiqur reached 96 not-out, and Mohammad Saifuddin was also unbeaten for eight of 21 balls.
In the first game of the series, Mushfiqur scored 84 and was adjudged the man of the match award.
At the end of 43.3 overs, Bangladesh were at 213 for seven.
Earlier, Bangladesh won the toss and opted to bat first. Like the first game of the series, Bangladesh lost two early wickets as Tamim Iqbal fell for 13 in the second over after having a dream start in the first over, and two balls later, Shakib Al Hasan also returned to the dressing room for a duck. Both the wickets were taken by Dushmantha Chameera.
The onus was on Liton Das to accompany Mushfiqur Rahim for a longer period of time to bring up a big partnership. But failed once again to impress as he fell for 25 off 42.
Bangladesh lost four wickets for 74 runs before Mushfiqur and Mahmudullah Riyad came up with an 87-run stand in the fifth wicket partnership.
Bangladesh made two changes in this game bringing in Mosadeek Hossain and Shoriful Islam to replace Mohammad Mithun and Taskin Ahmed. Sri Lanka, on the other hand, fielded an unchanged eleven.
