A total of 18 examinees, who sat for the recruitment test for assistant teacher in government primary school in first phase, were arrested for cheating during the examination in Dinajpur on Friday.
Moreover, 16 electronic devices used for communication during the examination were seized from them.
District Primary Education Officer Nazrul Islam confirmed the matter to UNB, saying that the examinees were suspended for adopting unfair means- essentially cheating.
Of the suspended examinees, sixteen were arrested for using the electronic devices and two for acting as the proxy, Nazrul Islam said.
He informed that 38,009 examinees took part in the recruitment test held at 54 centres in the district.
Legal actions against the accused were taken in this regard, the education officer added.
The first phase of the recruitment test for assistant teacher's post at government primary schools was held in Rangpur, Sylhet and Barishal divisions.
