Sustainable and Renewable Energy Development Authority (Sreda), Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Programme (REEEP II) and GIZ Sector Network TUEWAS (Transport, Environment, Energy and Water in Asia) organised the two-day programme jointly at Sonargaon Hotel in the city.
State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry Nasrul Hamid inaugurated the conference while the closing ceremony was addressed by Md Shahiduzzaman Sarker, Lawmaker and Chairman of Parliamentary Standing Committee of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry.
At the closing event, a total of 16-point recommendations were made including responsible use of energy in all areas, more focus on subsidies and conservation in energy efficiency.
The recommendations also suggested proper rule and regulations for success of the energy efficiency programme, setting up central energy efficiency data repository, setting up a joint task force between all multilateral and bilateral organisations working on energy efficiency and making accurate policy, collaboration among the government agencies and stakeholders for setting up new standards for energy efficient products.
Dr Angelika Fleddermann, Country Director of GIZ Bangladesh, Dr AKM Rafique Ahmed, Director General, Department of Environment, Abu Hena Md Rahmatul Muneem, Senior Secretary, Energy and Mineral Resources Division were also present at the concluding session among others.
