The victim Jalil Tepar, 50, a local trader of raw material, was sent to Dhaka for treatment along with his wife Nasima Begum, 40, and uncle Hamed who were also injured during the clash.
A group of local influential people were dredging sand from Kirtinasa by installing pipe line on Jalil’s land for past seven days, Jalil’s brother Sobhan said.
A scuffle took place when Jalil obstructed them from using his land to dredge sand from the river, he said.
Their land was losing fertility and was caving in due to the dredging of sand, he stated.
Officer-in-Charge of Zajira Police Station Ajharul Islam said after being informed, police rushed to the spot and controlled the situation.
No case has been filed over the matter, he said.
