They were speaking at a panel discussion on ‘Women Leadership and Diversity’ arranged by Department of Robotics and Mechatronics Engineering of Dhaka University (DU) at the Faculty of Business Studies.
The panel consisted of noted female faculties and corporate personas. They shared their struggles and gave the participants ideas about how to overcome the odds.
Chairman of DU Women and Gender Studies Department Dr Sanzida Akhter noted that although discrimination in gender-based perspectives has declined in Bangladesh, women still need to please the society by accepting restrictions.
“We can change the roles through positive upbringing of youth,” she added.
Chairman of Dohatec New Media Luna Shamsuddoha pointed out that women in Bangladesh were still not financially independent as men.
Marketing Advisor of TAS Deployment Partners Mehnaz Kabir told the audience about her experiences and struggles in corporate life.
Rahul Sachdev, head of SAP Next-Gen India, urged the youth to choose job sectors from human perspective instead of narrowing them down to jobs for ‘male’ or ‘female’.
The discussion was followed by a workshop on ‘Design Thinking’ conducted by Rahul.
The event was co-hosted by SAP Next-Gen India and Bangladesh Women in Technology.
