Dhaka, Nov 11 (UNB) – The High Court on Sunday issued a rule asking the authorities concerned to explanation as to why Ganosamhati Andolon will not be given registration as a political party.
An HC bench of Justice Moyeenul Islam Chowdhury and Justice Md Ashraful Kamal passed the order after hearing a writ petition.
The Election Commission, the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) and the EC Secretary were asked to respond to the rule within 10 days.
Last week, Ganosamhati Andolon convener Zonayed Saki filed the petition with the High Court.
Barrister Jotirmoy Barua stood for the petitioner while Deputy Attorney General Ekramul Haque Tutul represented the state.
On December 31 last, Ganosamhati Andolon applied to the EC for being registered as a political party
On June 24, the EC announced its decision that Ganosamhati would get registration as a political party.
