Dhaka, Nov 17 (UNB) – The High Court on Sunday issued a rule seeking explanation as to why an independent prosecution/attorney service commission would not be formed for appointing government law officials.
The bench of Justice Moyeenul Islam Chowdhury and Justice Khandaker Diliruzzaman issued the rule.
Law secretary, Law Commission Chairman, Cabinet Secretary and Parliament Secretariat Secretary were directed to respond to the rule within four weeks.
Advocate Forhad Uddin Ahmed Bhuiyan stood for the writ petitioner while Deputy Attorney General Saifuddin Khaled represented the state.
On November 11, Forhad Uddin filed the writ petition which stated that the government law officials were being appointed violating section 19(1), 22 and 29(1) and (2) of the Constitution.
The appointments deprived candidates of equal opportunities, the writ said.
