He came up with the call while speaking at the learning, sharing and launching event, “Strengthening Health Systems for Maternal, Newborn, Child Health and Family Planning” at Bangabandhu International Conference Center (BICC).
The Health and Family Welfare Ministry with support from USAID’s MaMoni Health System Strengthening (MaMoni HSS) project hosted the event.
The state minister also highlighted the importance of improving facility-based services for mothers and newborns, said a press release.
Dr Koki Aggarwal, Project Director for USAID’s global flagship programme, opined that the experience of Bangladesh in rapidly adopting and scaling up newborn health interventions is an example for many developing countries.
Caroll Vasquez, Director of Office of Population Health Nutrition and Education, USAID Bangladesh, hailed the Bangladesh government for its initiatives through the various programmes and reaffirmed US government’s continued support for development agenda of the Bangladesh government.
The newly launched USAID’s MaMoni Maternal and Newborn Care Strengthening Project will build on the past efforts of MaMoni HSS as well as by the ministry and other development partners to further consolidate the interventions to end preventable maternal and newborn deaths.
