Abahani posted 216/9 in 50 overs while batting first but BKSP tumbled for 156/10 in 40.5 overs.
BKSP won the toss and decided to bowl first. They scalped four of Abahani wickets in 53 runs.
Kaushal Silva, the Sri Lankan recruit of Abahai, was the first man to get dismissed. He fell for seven by right-arm medium pacer Sumon Khan. Nazmul Hossain Shanto fell for a duck while playing Abu Naser, a pacer of BKSP.
Right after that, Mosaddek Hossain Saikat, the captain of Abahani, got trapped in run-out by Shamim Hossain. He posted 13 runs on the board. The onus was on Sabbir Rahman to control the initial damage. But the right-hander failed to execute as he was removed on two by Hasan Murad.
When Abahani was crumbling on 53/4, Jahurul Islam and Mohammad Saif posted 112 runs in the fifth wicket stand which steered Abahani to a moderate 216/9 in 50 overs.
While Saifuddin posted 55, Jahurul Islam completed his third List-A century. Jahurul was playing this match with a muscle cramp. After posting 90, his pain was immense but the right-hander completed his ton.
Abu Naser took three wickets for 39 in 10 overs, while Hasan Murad took two and Sumon Khan and Naushad Iqbal bagged one each.
In reply, BKSP finished at 156 for 10 in 40.5 overs. Abdul Kayium, the captain of BKSP, scored 38, and the opener Ratul Khan posted 37. Along with them, Shamim Hossain, Sumon Khan and Abu Naser were the other batsmen to reach double-digit score as they hit 18, 10 and 12 respectively.
But their effort was not enough to win the battle against the bowling attack comprising Rubel Hossain, Mohammad Saifuddin and Nazmul Islam Apu.
Nazmul bagged three wickets for defending champions Abahani while Sunzamul Islam scalped two. Saifuddin, Rubel, Mosaddek, Ariful and Sabbir took one wicket each.
