Talking to UNB, Gayeshwar said he was scheduled to go to India with another BNP leader and businessman Abdul Awal Mintoo by a flight of Jet Airways at 5pm, but the immigration authorities did not allow them to fly.
Contacted, Mintoo, a BNP vice chairman, said they were not given clearance by the immigration officials at the airport for catching the flight at 5pm.
He said he was scheduled to go to Hyderabad for business purpose while Gayeshwar to Kolkata on a personal tour.
Mintoo said he later booked another flight of Air India which was scheduled to leave the airport at 9:30pm, but he was obstructed further, forcing him to back home.
The BNP leader said he was also scheduled to go to Sri Lanka from India to join a seminar there.
The immigration officials could not be reached over phone for comments.
