Shamim to campaign actively as ground hots up ahead of NCC poll
Member of Parliament Shamim Osman on Monday said Jamaat-Shibir forces are yet to attain the power needed to sink the boat (Awami League’s electoral symbol) in Narayanganj. He made the remark in a press briefing where he announced he would start actively campaigning for the AL in the upcoming Narayanganj City Corporation Election. In the presence of many local AL activists and supporters, Shamim Osman said, “The game will be on and we will win it on January 16.” Following his announcement most of the AL leaders, activists in Narayanganj were seen in full campaign mode for the AL-nominated candidate Dr Selina Hayat Ivy.

Meanwhile on Monday evening independent candidate Taimur Alam Khandakar’s chief coordinator and campaign in-charge, also convener of District BNP Monirul Islam Robi was arrested by police from his residence in Hirajhil. Selina Hayat Ivy, while campaigning in Ward 21 in Bandar area on Monday, once again said: "It has become clear from Taimur’s activities that he is the candidate nominated by Shamim Osman."
This was the same claim she made earlier, that ruffled feathers in the AL high command and forced Shamim Osman to come out and clarify his stance ahead of the election today.
On Sunday, AL made it known that if there was any truth found to Ivy's claim, Shamim Osman would be disciplined within the party structure.

Regarding Shamim Osman’s support, Ivy said, “I did not say I won’t need his support. The party has nominated me and the partisans and voters will cast votes for me. If one or two votes don’t get cast it will not matter.”
Independent candidate and BNP leader Taimur Alam Khandakar after his campaign at ward-27 said, “My opponent is assuming I got support from certain people and is trying to assassinate my character.” Taimur said his party activists, leaders are being threatened through police visits to their homes.
He urged the people of Narayanganj to pay no heed to any propaganda and said, "A lot of oppression will come but we will need to march forward facing all of this.”
Tap's Tk50 bonus campaign ends Friday
Mobile financial payment service Trust Axiata Pay's (Tap) campaign, launched on the occasion of Bangladesh's 51st Victory Day, will end Friday.
On December 16, tap started the campaign.
Under the campaign, newly registered users are getting a Tk50 bonus – Tk25 upon registration and Tk25 money back on mobile recharge.
Tap is a joint venture company of Trust Bank, Bangladesh and Axiata Digital Services Sdn Bhd, Malaysia.
Nagad surprises children with unique Christmas campaign
Mobile financial service Nagad launched the initiative "Abar Ashibo Firey" on Christmas Day Saturday.
The initiative was taken to preserve the memory, practices and principles of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman by distributing the graphic novel series "Mujib" to children through postcards.
During the daylong Christmas event at InterContinental Dhaka, Dhaka Regency Hotel and Resort, Sheraton Dhaka, Radisson Blu Water Garden and The Westin Dhaka, the campaign was implemented.

In these events, children chose between four different postcards and put one in a mailbox.
Depending on their choices, Nagad will send them "Mujib," which follows the journey of Bangladesh's founding father from childhood to political awakening.
The postcards have pictures of tea gardens in Sylhet, beaches in Cox's Bazar, Ahsan Manzil in Dhaka and the Sundarbans to encourage people to travel.

Oppo campaign launched to honour heroic people of 1971, heroes of our time
Global smart device brand Oppo, in collaboration with BURO Bangladesh, has come up with the campaign "Stories of Heroic People" to mark the 51st Victory Day of Bangladesh.

Walton 'Smart Fridge, Smart Maker' season-2 begins
Walton has launched the second season of its two-round video making contest "Smart Fridge, Smart Maker."
Anyone can participate in the first round of the contest and the ten best video makers will be eligible for the second round and get a reward of Tk50,000 each.

Dhaka University on Monday launched vaccination campaign at its medical
centre, aiming to inoculate its teachers, students and staff.
The campaign was inaugurated around 9:30am with Sinopharm vaccine jabs, said the officials.
