Acting secretary of the Expatriates Welfare and Overseas Employment Ministry Begum Rounak Jahan made a statement to this effect following a joint working group meeting with Malaysian representatives at the ministry on Wednesday.
“All recruiting agencies can send workers to Malaysia from now, it is open for all. But there are some obligations over visa attestation so visas should be attested,” she said.
Replying the query of journalists, she said “It hasn’t been specified yet from when the manpower export will start. But we are working to start as soon as possible.”
On claims that the new system will only lead to the formation of new syndicates, Rounak Jahan said “Nothing like that is happening, and we are trying to settle on a proper management system which is a very important matter for the country. Firstly reducing the hardship and secondly, a unified system- both the countries agreed in this matter.”
Betty Hasan, Under Secretary of the Policy Division of Malaysia’s Ministry of Human Resources, led the Malaysian delegation.
