The local administration on Wednesday put Rangpur under lockdown to prevent the transmission of coronavirus.
Deputy Commissioner Asif Ahsan said the lockdown was implemented from 10pm and will remain in force until further notice.
Emergency services including medical services and food supply will remain out of the lockdown purview, he added.

Bangladesh reported 219 new coronavirus cases and four more deaths on Wednesday, taking the number of fatalities in the country to 50. The country has so far confirmed 1,231 cases.
