So far, there have been 1,231 coronavirus cases in the country, Health Minister Zahid Maleque said at the daily briefing of the Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research (IEDCR).
He said seven patients have recovered, taking the total number of recovery to 49.The minister said in the last 24 hours, 1,740 samples were tested and emphasised increasing the number of tests to help prevent the spread of the virus.

He urged everyone to step forward and test for the virus. He asked the people to stay at their homes. "Stay indoors, stay safe," he said.
Maleque expressed grief and offered sympathies to the family of Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital’s Dr Md Moyeen Uddin, the first physician of Bangladesh to die from coronavirus.
"Today we’ve lost a comrade ... the government has assured that his family will be taken care of," said the minister.
DGHS Director General Abul Kalam Azad said the safety of every health worker, even at the union level, will be ensured.
DGHS Additional Director General Nasima Sultana shared details about the four new deceased
"Two of them were over 70. One of our doctors who died was aged 50 and another patient was between 35 and 40 years," she said.
The patient who was aged between 35 to 40 years old was suffering from cancer and other diseases, said Nasima, adding that one of the deceased was a woman.
In the last 24 hours, 71 people were taken to isolation, increasing the total number of isolation to 433.
Meanwhile, Minister Maleque said Gazipur, Mymensingh, and Keraniganj have reached a stage of infection similar to that of Narayanganj.
"These areas need to be locked down strictly," he said.
