A newborn boy was stolen from the maternity ward of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) on Thursday.
Sources at the DMCH said the incident happened around 1:30 pm on Thursday.

Hiron Mia, father of the stolen newborn, said the boy was born on August 28 through C-section at the hospital and was being breastfed by another woman.
Hron went to Rupnagar in Mirpur area in the afternoon to bring lunch, keeping his wife Shahana and mother at the hospital.

In the meantime, a woman stole his baby from room 106 under the maternity ward at around 1:30 pm.
After being informed, a team from Shahbagh Police Station rushed to the spot and is working to recover the stolen newborn, said DMCH Police Outpost in-charge Inspector Bachhu Mia.

According to hospital sources, the newborn is the first child of Hiron and Sahana couple. They got married one-and-a-half years ago. Hiron, a mason by profession, came to DMCH along with his wife and mother on August 27 for the delivery.
