Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has asked the authorities concerned to make sure that government procurement goes through competition to become more open and free.
She gave this directive at a cabinet meeting on Monday.

The cabinet committee meeting was held with the prime minister in the chair.
Cabinet Secretary Mahbub Hossain briefed about the meeting at the secretariat.

“The prime minister has given an important directive. We have to make sure that the competition is more open, free in the public procurement that we have," he said.
ImED (Implementation Monitoring and Evaluation Department) will now work on it. They will work very quickly and make the necessary changes, added the cabinet secretary.

“It is seen that many companies do not have the capacity, which means that some companies are getting work even after not having the capacity. This is delaying many of our development activities,” he said.
“In the meeting, the prime minister directed to make changes in the relevant regulations to get out of this. So that the competition is open, good and our developmental works are done quickly," added Mahbub.
