Dhaka, Nov 21 (UNB) - Terming Bangladesh as the gateway of Thailand to South Asia, Thai Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-o-cha has assured his country’s fullest support to Bangladesh bilaterally as well as through regional fora, especially in Asean Regional Forum (ARF) and Bimstec.
Thai Prime Minister made the assurance when outgoing Bangladesh Ambassador to Thailand Saida Muna Tasneem met him at Government House in Bangkok on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, Ambassador Tasneem has been appointed Bangladesh High Commissioner to the United Kingdom.
She is expected to join Bangladesh High Commission in London as the High Commissioner later this month on completion of her four-year tenure in Thailand.
Tasneem also served as the Permanent Representative of Bangladesh to UNESCAP and the non-resident Ambassador of Bangladesh to Cambodia.
Thai Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-o-cha highly praised Ambassador Tasneem for her vibrant and active bilateral and multilateral activities in Thailand since 2014, said the Bangladesh Embassy in Bangkok on Wednesday.
Earlier, Ambassador Tasneem also made a farewell call on Thai Foreign Minister Don Pramudwinai at Thai Foreign Ministry.
During the meeting, the Thai Foreign Minister highly appreciated Ambassador Tasneem for elevating Bangladesh-Thailand relations to an unprecedented new height.
Over the last four years, Bangladesh exports to Thailand enjoyed an annual increase of an average of 12-13 percent while Thai investment of nearly US$ 1 billion has also come to Bangladesh during the period.
