“The DNCC has undertaken the weeklong special programme to ensure that patients, doctors, nurses and other paramedics in hospitals under DNCC don’t get infected with dengue,” said a press release.
On the first day, they conducted mosquito eradication activities at the 25 hospitals from 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm.
“Larvicide (pesticide for mosquito larvae) and adulticide (pesticide for adult mosquitos) will regularly be sprayed at the hospitals and adjoining areas during the current week,” it added.
The special programme was undertaken in addition to the regular mosquito eradication drive of DNCC that started earlier this month, and has a penalty component to it for negligent residents and owners of establishments who allow conditions for the breeding of mosquitoes to thrive.
