The deceased was identified as Habib Ullah, 40, son of Ali Ahammad of Noyapara area.
Officer-in-charge of Teknaf Police Station Pradip Kumar Das said tipped off that Habib and his associates will commit robbery at Noyapara Mochoni registered camp a team of police conducted a drive there.
Sensing presence of the law enforcers, the robbers fired gunshots on them, forcing them to fire back in self-defence that triggered the gunfight.
Habib and three cops were also injured during the gunfight.
Habib was referred to Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital from Teknaf Hospital where doctors declared him dead.
Police also recovered a locally made arms, 7 rounds of cartridges and 6 rounds of bullet shells from the spot.
A total of seven Rohingys men who were accused in the case were killed in ‘gunfights’.
On August 22, Jubo League leader Omar Faruk, 30, was shot dead at Jadimura in Teknaf upazila allegedly by a group of Rohingya criminals.
