The incident happened at Ishak Academy at Rampur village in the upazila. The school is run by Mizanur Rahman Mujahid, organising secretary of BNP’s Alongkari union unit.
It was found that students of Classes-VI, VII and VIII were attending their ICT examinations. Some students were also seen taking part in a class.
However, there was no programme to celebrate the Victory Day.
Several examinees, seeking anonymity, said the school authorities forced them to sit for the examinations.
Akhter Hossain, guardian of a student, described it as a bad example. “No such incident happened here in the past.”
Contacted, Elias Ali, headmaster of the school, confessed that it was a mistake. “We shouldn’t have done this,” he said promising that it will not repeat in the future.
School owner Mizanur Rahman claimed that he was not aware of examination and blamed a conflict among the teachers for the incident. “No examination was scheduled for today (Monday). It was supposed to take place tomorrow (Tuesday). There was a conflict among the teachers. They took the examination on the Victory Day to destroy the institution,” he said.
Samir Kanti Deb, upazila secondary education officer, said they informed the higher authorities of the incident.
