Local Government and Rural Development (LGRD) Minister Md Tajul Islam on Sunday urged all to perform their duties with honesty and sincerity to build the ‘Sonar Bangla’ as dreamt by the Father of the Nation and to develop happy, prosperous and hunger-poverty free country.
The Minister came up with the request at an oath-taking ceremony of newly-elected three Zila Parishad members of Cumilla, Chandpur and Bhola districts at the ministry.
Senior Secretary of the Local Government Division Helaluddin Ahmed administered the oath.
The three new Zila Parishad members are — Cumilla Zila Parishad Ward no 2, Nazrul Islam, Chandpur Zila Parishad Ward no 12, Zakir Hossain and Bhola Zila Parishad Ward no 7, Mehedi Hasan.
Tajul also urged everyone related to Zila Parishad to work together for making the Zila Parishad more people-friendly.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has made the structure of the Zila Parishad more people-oriented and up to date after amending the Zila Parishad Act 2000, he said.
