Six people, including a nurse of the Sadar Hospital, were diagnosed with coronavirus in Chuadanga, taking the total number of confirmed cases in the district to eight.
The authorities sent 15 staffers, including two physicians of the hospital, to quarantine following the detection.
Civil Surgeon Dr ASAM Maruf Hasan confirmed the development, saying the six will be treated in isolation at their homes.
Dr Shamim Kabir, resident medical officer of Sadar Hospital, said a patient who received treatment at the hospital from April 6 to 12 tested positive for coronavirus recently.
Later, they sent samples of 21 staffers of the hospital to Jashore University of Science and Technology for test and found six of them to be positive on Thursday.
According to civil surgeon’s office, 131 samples were tested in the district.
Bangladesh has so far recorded 127 coronavirus deaths and 4,186 cases.
