The victims are Tanzil Hasan Rohan, 19, a BBA student at North South University and son of Hasan Khan, Ahsan Ullah, 32, a leather factory worker, Nuruzzama, 40, Fatema Tuz Zohra, 21, a third year student of Home Economics College and daughter Jashim Uddin, Saleh Ahmed, 38, a company employee and son of Lal Mia, Nasrin Jahan, 32, daughter of Kohinoor Begum, Shahin Ahmed, 42, and Enamul Hauqe, 33.
Family members of the deceased received their bodies at Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
At least 71 people were killed and many injured in the fire that originated at a chemical warehouse and spread to adjacent buildings in Chawkbazar on February 20 night.
Government officials said 67 bodies were recovered from the spot.
Of them, 48 were handed over to their families at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) while the rest 19 could not be identified.
There were 48 claimants for the bodies. However, the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) carried out the DNA tests when samples of 23 people matched with 11 victims.
Of them, eight bodies were handed over to their respective families.
CID’s Additional DIG Rejaul Haider told reporters at its Malibagh office that it will take 10-12 more days to identify the remaining victims.
Kulsum said her husband Ahsan Ullah went to buy medicine when the tragedy struck him.
