ICSDAP and Social Welfare department of Islamic University jointly organised the two-day conference at Birshrestha Hamidur Rahman Auditorium of the university.
IU vice-chancellor Professor M Harun-Ur-Rashid Askari addressed the inaugural session as the chief guest while ICSD president and Charles Sturt University’s Social Work department Professor Manohar Pawar delivered speech as the keynote speaker.
Vice-chancellor of Royal University in Dhaka, Professor Profulla C Sarkar and IU treasurer Professor M Selim Toha spoke as special guests at the programme chaired by IU pro-vice-chancellor and chairman of Social Welfare department Professor M Shahinoor Rahman.
Around five hundred participators from home and abroad took part in the conference.
Addressing the conference, the speakers said that the social unrest is demonstration of a group of people when they are not satisfied with existing issue or issues.
To reduce social unrest, people should encourage tolerance, they said.
The speakers in the conference shed lights on different issues including civil wars, refugees and social unrest, economic disparity and its implications for peace and development, population growth and social unrest, globalization, migration and challenges towards peace and development, Gender inequality.
