Speakers at a roundtable on Wednesday underscored the critical need for collaboration and knowledge sharing among national and global institutions to effectively address climate change challenges.
The Embassy of the United Arab Emirates in Dhaka and the International Center for Climate Change and Development (ICCCAD) based at Independent University jointly hosted the roundtable discussion on climate change in the buildup to the conference of parties (COO28) UAE at a city hotel in Dhaka on Wednesday, according to a press release.

UAE Ambassador to Bangladesh Abdulla Ali AlHmoudi attended the discussion as the chief guest, said a press release.
He emphasised the significance of COP28, stating, "COP28 will be opening opportunity to find a solution and make plans to reduce pollution, invest in climate-smart agriculture, and provide financial support to developing nations to help them adapt to climate change."

Saber Hossain Chowdhury, MP, special envoy to the prime minister for Climate Change who attended the event as special guest, said Measurement, Reporting, and Verification (MRV) is important aspects of measuring climate impact.
He also emphasized on data based research and development.

Climate scientist and COP28 UAE Advisory Committee, Prof Saleemul Huq, chaired the event.
He highlighted the paradigm shift in capacity building, saying, “Every person living on planet Earth now needs to understand climate change because it’s going to be something they have to live with and they have to understand.’’
UN Resident Coordinator in Bangladesh, Danish Ambassador, Chief of IOM Bangladesh Mission, Chairperson of Climate Parliament Bangladesh, Chairman of BOT of IUB, esteemed experts, diplomats, parliamentarians, and high-level participants and dignitaries spoke at the event and pointed out critical aspects of climate action.
Prof Mizan R Khan, deputy Director of ICCCAD-IUB presented the keynote, the release said.
