Sarjis Alam, central coordinator of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, has said that all forms of wrongdoing would be met with resistance, and both students and the general public would remain vocal.
"In the past 16 years, the fascist Hasina has turned not only the Awami League but also Bangladesh into a fascist regime. Students and the public have sacrificed their lives for justice, and they will continue to fight against all forms of injustice, including terrorism and extortion," said Sarjis at a discussion held at Shaheed Smriti Municipal Park in Tangail on Thursday.
Addressing the gathering, which included students and local citizens, Sarjis issued a warning to the police, saying, "If you follow the path of fascism like Sheikh Hasina, you will be driven out just like her." He further emphasized that they would not tolerate the installation of another authoritarian regime.
Sarjis also demanded that the name of Tangail Medical College, currently named after Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, be restored to its original name. "The medical college should be known as Tangail Medical College, a name that reflects the spirit of the people, and not that of a fallen government," he said.
The event saw speeches from several other coordinators of the movement, including Abdullah Salehin Ayon, Mobashiruzzaman Hasan, Mitu Akhter, Rakibul Hasan, Rafiqul Islam Ainy, and Ilma Khandaker Anny. The meeting was moderated by local coordinator Iffat Raisa Nuha.
