Syeda Rizwana Hasan, advisor for the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, has announced zero tolerance policy against corrupt officials.
“If any official of the Department of Environment and Forest get involved in any kind of corruption, irregularities and show negligence in environmental and forest conservation and development, exemplary legal action will be taken against them,” she said.
She was speaking after her first visit to the Forest Department and view exchange meeting with the officials on Wednesday afternoon.
She said that the forest of the country should be kept like a forest and the officials concerned should remain dedicated to the improvement of the quality of the country's environment.
Rizwana Hasan said that the Wildlife Crime Control Unit of the Forest Department should monitor Bird Market at the Katabon of the Capital regularly.
Here legal action should be taken against all types of illegal bird trade and against traders who are cruel to birds.
Secretary of the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Additional Secretaries, Chief Conservator Forests of the Forest Department and all the officials of the Forest Department were present in the view exchange meeting.
Earlier in the morning, the Environment Advisor visited the Department of Environment and interacted with the officials.
During this time, she gave instructions to take effective steps to stop the cutting of hills and river pollution.
Urging the officials to increase their skills, the advisor said that people's confidence should be restored through visible work.
