Awami League will hold a rally at Suhrawardy Udyan on Wednesday, marking the historic Homecoming Day of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Awami League president will be present as chief guest.
Awami League has taken all out preparation as it has a plan to turn the rally into a sea of people as more than a million people are expected to attend the rally.
Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader said the rally will begin at 2:30pm with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the chair.
Besides, different social and cultural organisation will chalk out elaborate programmes marking the day.
The rally will be the first rally of Awami League after winning the 12th Parliamentary election.
Leaders and activists from different parts of the capital and adjacent to the capital will join the rally.
Though the AL has set a target to gather two lakh people, a joint meeting was held to make the rally a success at AL’s Tejgaon Dhaka unit office on Tuesday.
A big podium was erected at the Suhrawardy Uddyan and addition security measures have been taken in the area
Awami League Presidium Member Jahangir Kabir Nanak, AL presidium member Dr Muhammad Abdur Razzaque, joint general secretary Hasan Mahmud, Mahbubul Alam Hanif, AFM Bahauddin Nasim, leaders and activists of south and north city unit Awami League were present at the meeting.
