A Bogura court on Tuesday sentenced three people to death and another to life term imprisonment in a case over the killing of a man centring an extramarital relationship in Bogura’s Sariakandi upazila around four years back.
Bogura’s Additional Sessions Judge Court-1 Judge Habiba Mandal also fined the convicts Tk 50, 000 each, said the court’s Assistant Public Prosecutor Abdur Razzak Khan said.
The death-row convicts are Shiblu alias as Fakir, son of Chhafu Kha of Kutibari area under Sariakandi upazila, his cohorts Shanto Mia, son of Sirajul Islam of Ramnagar area and Nayeem Mandal, son of Tarikul Mandal, of Aamtali area.
Moreover, the life term convict is Mina Begum, wife of the victim three-wheeler driver Ashiq of the Kutibari area.
According to the case statement, there had been a dispute between the couple as Mina developed an illicit affair with Ashiq.
Later, Mina and Shiblu hit upon a plan to kill Ashiq.
and his two aides Shanto and Nayeem abducted Ashiq when he came out of his house with the three-wheeler in the afternoon on October 2, 2020.
As per the plan, the trio killed him and dumped the body into Bangali River in the upazila. Two days after the killing, the body was recovered from the river.
Later, the victim’s brother Anis Uddin filed a murder case naming four people including Mina and four to five unnamed with the concerned police station.
Police arrested the unidentified four accused.
After completing legal procedures, the court handed down the judgment in the presence of the convicts.
