This success, they noted, bolsters not just Bangladesh’s own security and sustainable economic growth but also has positive implications regionally and globally.
The experts highlighted the effectiveness of the current government’s “zero tolerance policy” towards terrorism, initiated by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
This approach has significantly enhanced security at national, regional, and international levels, they were of the opinion. Additionally, they underscored the need for deeper security cooperation between Bangladesh and the United States, benefiting both nations.
The webinar, titled “Success in Combating Terrorism in Bangladesh and its Implications for Security in the Region and Beyond,” was organized by the Global Forum for Violence-free Secular Democratic Bangladesh.
Dr. Nuran Nabi, a Councilman from New Jersey, USA and a freedom fighter, author, moderated the event, which featured four expert panelists.

Paulo Casaca, founder and Executive Director of the South Asia Democratic Forum, praised Bangladesh’s role in counterterrorism on various fronts.
He noted that the country’s efforts have received widespread international recognition. Chris Blackburn, a UK-based political analyst, emphasized the importance of counterterrorism and security, critiquing the previous BNP-Jamaat rule for its detrimental effects.
Professor ABM Nasir from North Carolina Central University highlighted Bangladesh’s strategic importance to the United States’ national security.
He also discussed how the previous BNP-Jamaat regime became a security threat to the people of Bangladesh.

Dr. Md. Shariful Islam from the University of Rajshahi discussed how Bangladesh's staunch stance against terrorism under Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has been instrumental in enhancing regional security, particularly for India, by addressing insurgencies from Northeast India.
In conclusion, Dr. Nabi reflected on the transformation in Bangladesh’s counterterrorism approach under Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s leadership.
He noted that Bangladesh’s performance in this domain is commendable and surpasses that of the United States and many European countries, contributing significantly to both local and global security and economic stability.
