A banker died of dengue while undergoing treatment at a hospital in Dhaka on Wednesday afternoon, his nephew said.
The demise of Shahidul Islam, 43, comes just a day after Senior Assistant Secretary to Commerce Ministry Nazia Sultana suffered the same fate.

Shahidul was a stock exchange officer at the head office of private Mutual Trust Bank in Dhaka and hailed Shripur village under Mirsarai upazila of Chattogram.
Iqbal Hossain, nephew of the banker, said his uncle was admitted to Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the capital’s Hitech Multicare Hospital Ltd five to six days back after he had been infected with the mosquito-borne disease dengue.

“My uncle breathed his last while undergoing treatment at the hospital around 4 pm,” he said, adding that the banker left behind two minor daughters.
Md Jakaria, member of local Sadar Union Parishad, confirmed the death of the banker saying that his Namaz-e-janaza will be held at 10 am tomorrow.
