In the proposed budget for FY 2024-25, Tk 5,377 crore has been allocated to the Ministry of Public Administration, an increase of Tk 217 crore from the revised budget of Tk 5,160 crore for the previous fiscal year.

Finance Minister Abul Hassan Mahmood Ali highlighted that this allocation aligns with the government's election pledge to ensure transparency, good governance, and democracy in public administration, aiming to build a smart and developed Bangladesh by 2041.

"We are working to ensure easy access to public services to reduce poverty and inequality and to attract domestic and foreign investment to achieve a high growth rate," said the minister.

The government has been continuously striving to establish good governance through regulatory and institutional reforms. "Digital Bangladesh made our task of achieving good governance easier. We can achieve the desired level of good governance if we implement the 'Smart Bangladesh' framework envisioned by the Prime Minister, continuing ongoing reforms and innovative initiatives to stay relevant in the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution," he added.

Minister Ali also mentioned that under Section 19 of the Public Service Act, 2018, the Ministry of Public Administration is drafting the 'Work Evaluation Rules 2024' to facilitate objective performance evaluation of government employees.

In addition, several laws and policies have been formulated, including the 'Public Service (Amendment) Act 2023' and the 'Bangladesh Civil Service (Administration) Formation and Cadre Order 2024'. The Ministry has also initiated the implementation of the Government Employee Management System (GEMS) program.
