The number of patients in several city hospitals has increased in the last two days (Tuesday-Wednesday) due to the relaxation of the curfew.
Dr. Suvrojit Sarker, emergency medical officer of Better Life hospital in Rampura, told UNB that the pressure has been high since yesterday. "Many new patients are still coming."
When asked how many people were treated and how many died during the clashes in quota movement, he said "Since the clashes were more in Rampura area, there were many injured. Several hundred injured people were treated during the clashes. Many of the injured have been shifted to another hospital."
Three days ago, a fire broke out in front of Farazi Hospital in Banasree. However, there were no casualties. Bhutru Mia, who is on duty there, said there were no previously admitted patients in the hospital.
"However, due to the relaxation of the curfew, the patient's pressure is high," he added.
The scenario is almost the same in IBN Sina Hospital located in the capital's Malibagh area.
Wishing anonymity, an Information Officer told UNB "The pressure of patients has increased in a significant way from yesterday due to the relaxation of curfew. Since this is a diagnostic center, we normally serve from 7 am to 11 pm everyday. But due to the curfew, doctors left the hospital at 8pm on Tuesday."
However, they do not know how long doctors will stay in the hospital today.
