A female student of a private university died of dengue at a hospital in Chattogram city on Wednesday night.
The deceased, Afnan Nasir Barsha, 21, was a third semester student of English department of International Islamic University Chittagong (IIUC) and daughter of Nasir Uddin of Patiya upazila in Chattogram.
Chattogram’s Civil Surgeon Dr Mohammed Elias Chowdhury confirmed the death.

Barsha’s father Nasir Uddin, also an Awami League leader of the upazila unit, said his daughter was undergoing treatment at their residence located beside Chattogram Ma-O-Shishu Hospital in Agrabad area for the past one week after she had tested positive for dengue.
She was admitted to the Shishu Hospital when her condition worsened, he said, adding that she breathed her last while undergoing treatment on Wednesday night.

Though the physicians assured them that Barsha would get well, her lung and kidneys were infected, Nasir said.
The IIUC student was buried at family graveyard on Thursday morning after namaz-e-Janaza in Patiya.
