A CyberKnife partners’ meet was held on Saturday in Dhaka to brief the latest cancer treatment.
CyberKnife uses an approach called stereotactic body radiation therapy (SRS SBRT), delivering precise doses of radiation with extreme accuracy — and accounting for tumor or patient movement in real-time.
HCG Hospital, a specialist in cancer care, based in Mumbai organized the programme at a Dhaka hotel.

Director of Radiation Oncology of the hospital, Dr. Shyam Kishore Shrivastava, who is one of the senior-most radiation oncologists in Mumbai with more than four decades of experience, presented the ways of treatment with radiation.
He also showed the difference between the conventional method of treatment and CyberKnife in detail.
He said stereotactic body radiation therapy (SRS SBRT) is more successful in treating the cancer than conventional chemotherapy.

The CyberKnife System is the first and only fully robotic radiotherapy device.
