An Indian woman and her 5-year-old daughter have been detained by the BGB members for trespassing in the Shakaripota area of Ghiba border No. 4 of Benapole.
They were detained on their way back to India, said BGB 42 Battalion Commander Lt. Col. Saifullah Siddiqui.
The detainees are Kusum Laxman Gawand, 25, and her daughter Gauri Laxman Gawand, 5. They are residents of the Indian state of Maharashtra.
A regular BGB patrol team from Ghiba BOP was stationed at Shakaripota Bazar. They stopped an easybike carrying two passengers who were heading toward the Ghiba border.
Upon interrogation, the passengers admitted to being Indian citizens who had illegally entered Bangladesh on July 17 and were attempting to return to India.
Col. Saifullah Siddiqui said that a case was filed against them and then they were handed over to Benapole Port Police.
