On the 68th founding anniversary of the National Press Club on Saturday, the organization held a rally commemorating 16 departed members including its lifelong member Toab Khan and former president Riaz Uddin Ahmed.
The rally was held at Tofazzal Hossain Manik Miah Hall of the NPC.
Lyricist KG Mustafa, SM Showkat Hossain, Raja Siraj, Md Shamim Mashreki, Syed Akram, Khandakar Anisur Rahman, Pir Habibur Rahman, Shamsul Alam Belal, Sagar Bishwash, AM Mufazzal, HM Jalal Ahmed, Abul Bashar Nuru, Shafiqul Islam Yunus, Gias Uddin Ahmed were also commemorated.
National Press Club President Farida Yasmin said, “We have lost many close people as we got over the Covid-19 pandemic, who were at the forefront of the continuous effort in developing and upholding the profession of journalism.”

“Toab Khan was one of them whom we lost just a few days ago. We could not even think that we would hold a memorial for him as at the age of 87, he took the helm of a new newspaper. At the same time we suddenly lost Riaz Uddin, four times elected president of National Press Club four times,” she added.
Present and former senior members of the National Press Club, relatives and family members of deceased members attended the programme.
