Two members of the Sherpur Highway Police were suspended (closed) on allegations of misconduct involving two journalists in Sherpur Upazila of Bogura.
Syed Abul Hashem, officer in charge of Sherpur Highway Police, confirmed the matter of suspension on Monday night (July 8).
The suspended police personnel are Assistant Sub-Inspector Chandan Chanda Barman and Constable Habiba.

Local sources reported that Sherpur correspondent Jahangir Islam of the daily Jugantar went to gather news at the Sherpur Highway Police Camp, when Constable Habiba misbehaved with him.
Shortly after this incident, Sherpur correspondent Shahidul Islam of the Daily Delta Times alleged that Deputy Inspector Chandan Chanda Barman misbehaved with him and physically assaulted him at the Highway Camp.
Upon receiving the news, 20-25 journalists working in Sherpur Upazila went to the Highway Police Station and demanded justice.

Syed Abul Hashem, Officer in-charge of Sherpur Highway Police, stated that due to misconduct with two journalists, Constable Habiba and Assistant Sub-Inspector Chandan Chanda Barman were suspended from the camp and attached to the Bogura Police Headquarters.
