UNB Khulna Correspondent reports: Lovely Akhter, 30, wife of Jamir Ali of Baliadanga village in Keshabpur upazila of Jashore district died of dengue early Wednesday.
Shoilendranath Biswas, a resident physician of the KMCH, said Lovely was admitted to the hospital with dengue on Tuesday evening and she died around 2:30 am.
According to the district Civil Surgeon office, 16 people have so far died of dengue in the district.
A total of 398 new patients, including 131 in Dhaka, were hospatalised across the country in 24 hours till Wednesday morning, according to Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) report.
Bangladesh has seen a massive outbreak of mosquito-borne disease dengue this year. But the situation started improving from the beginning of September with relatively low number of new cases.
Since January, 86,155 people were hospitalised with dengue, most of them in Dhaka. Of them, 84,186 have made full recovery.
Since the beginning of this year, the Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research received information about 224 dengue-related deaths. It has so far reviewed 126 cases and confirmed 75 dengue deaths.
