Trading at the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) ended on a downtrend on Sunday, with the main index plunging by 26.99 points amid rising sales pressure.
The benchmark DSEX index closed at 5,328.32 points, a drop by 26.99 points. The Shariah-based DSES index fell by 6.56 points to 1,182.95, while the DS30 blue-chip index dropped by 9.49 points to 301976.91 points.
The day saw shares and mutual funds worth Tk 505.9 crore traded on the DSE, a decrease of Tk 96.5 crore compared to Thursday’s (Nov 14) turnover of Tk 576.3 crore. A total of 17.72 crore shares and units were exchanged through 1,66,566 transactions. In the previous working day, 19.48 crore shares and units were exchanged through 1,843,940 transactions on the previous working day.
Out of the 383 companies that participated in Sunday’s trading, stock prices for 150 companies increased, 185 decreased, and 48 remained unchanged at the DSE.
The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also saw a downtrend of trading, with the CASPI index edging drops by 0.14 points to close at 14,859.28.
A total of 214 companies were traded on the CSE, with prices rising to 76, falling to 111, and remaining unchanged for 27. The day's turnover at the CSE rose to Tk 5.0 crore compared to Tk 9.10 crore on Thursday (Nov 14) a drop of Tk 4.10 crore. Shares and units totaling 23.44 lakh were traded through 2,175 transactions.
