Gayeshwar Chandra Roy, a prominent member of the BNP National Standing Committee, stated that BNP leaders and activists had been protesting for 16 years to bring down the fascist regime of Sheikh Hasina.
"It should not be judged by 16 days but by 16 years of struggle," he said.
"Although the fascist regime has fallen, democracy has not yet been restored. We will not return home until we can cast our votes with our own hands at polling centers," he remarked.
He made these comments as the chief guest during a brief rally on Tuesday (September 17), held before the BNP's centrally announced procession in observance of International Democracy Day.
Roy further added, "For years, we have countered the open conspiracies of Hasina's fascist allies. Now, BNP leaders, activists, and supporters are prepared to face invisible conspirators. The BNP will support an interim government for as long as necessary to ensure a free and fair election, and to implement the required reforms."
Rakibul Islam Bokul, BNP's National Executive Committee Secretary for Student Affairs, emphasized the need to reopen the closed jute mills in Khalishpur, Khulna, which had been shut down during the 16-year rule of the fascist government. He called for the arrest and exemplary punishment of the Awami autocrats and their collaborators. Bokul also urged all BNP leaders and supporters to remain united to prevent the resurgence of oppressive forces that could incite destruction and mass killings in the country.
Following the rally at Shivbari Mor in Khulna, the procession marched through Lower Jessore (Khan-e-Sabur) Road, passing key locations such as Power House Mor, Ferryghat Mor, Dakbangla Mor, Picture Palace Mor, and concluding in front of the BNP office on KD Ghosh Road after circling Khulna Circuit House Maidan and Khulna Zilla School.
