Bangladeshi IM Mohammad Minhaz Uddin shared the top slot in the Hetauda Cup Asia Open Chess Tournament along with India Subhayan Kundu and Bartakke Amardeep, securing four full points each after the 4th round matches held at Hetauda in Nepal on Thursday.
FM Nayem Haque of Bangladesh is in second place with 3.5 points. IM Abu Sufian Shakil and FM Sharif Hossain earned 3 points each; Sheikh Nasir Ahmed earned 2.5 points; and another Bangladeshi player, Debaraj Chatterjee, earned 2 points.
The third and fourth round matches were held today (Thursday).
In the day's third round, IM Mohammad Minhaz Uddin beat Dahal Sushrut of Nepal. Nayem Haque beat Mohit Kumar Soni of India; IM Abu Sufian Shakil drew with Mishra Kamad; FM Sheikh Nasir Ahmed drew with Chaulagain Purusottam of Nepal, FM Md Sharif Hossain beat Subedi Rajan of NNepal,and FM Debaraj Chatterjee lost to Dev Raj of India.
In the day's fourth round, IM Mohammad Minhaz Uddin beat FM Arvinder Preet Singh of India, FM Nayem Haque drew with Shrayan Majumder of India, and IM Abu Sufian Shakil drew with FM Sheikh Nasir Ahmed, FM Md Sharif Hossain lost to Bartakke Amardeep, and Debaraj Chatterjee beat Abin Pandey of Nepal.
