Student representatives from junior, middle and high school delivered empowering speeches regarding the current climate situation and their demands for action.
Students from Grade 4 to 12, led by teachers and the student council representatives, also took part in a rally in the neighborhood of the school campus in Uttara Sector-4 in the city.
This event was organised by the students of the Aga Khan School, Dhaka’s Climate Change Committee in collaboration with the ActionAid, said a press release.
The Global Climate Strike was inspired by Greta Thunberg, a 16-year-old girl, who had to sacrifice school every Friday to sit in front of the Swedish parliament and demand global justice.
To support her cause, students all over the world and across English medium schools in Dhaka observed the Global Climate Strike.
While the rally was an astounding success, the students were motivated to continue their efforts inspired by Greta Thunberg and were encouraged to make changes in their own lives and the lives around them since every small step makes a big difference towards a better future.
