Mohammedan lost the toss and batted first in the match. They have accumulated 316 for nine wickets in 50 overs with the help of AvishekMitra (68), IrfanShukkur (92), RaqibulHasan (50) and SohagGazi (43*).
For Brothers, Mohammad Sharif and Sajedul Islam took three wickets each while RonyHossain and BishwanathHalder bagged one wicket each.
The game was interrupted by the rain right after the first innings. However, after the rain has stopped, Brothers Union saw the wicket and refused to continue the game citing the wicket was not appropriate enough to keep the game on. Considering the emerged situation, match referee Akhtar Ahmad has awarded the game to Mohammedan.
Amin Khan, the manager of Brothers, said about the issue: “Rain came during the break of the innings, and we saw the wicket after the rain has gone away. We found the wicket unplayable and decided not to continue the game.”
It was the fourth win of Mohammedan in the league while Brothers suffered sixth losses.
In the encounter between Gazi Group Cricketers and Uttara Sporting Club in Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium, Gazi won by 49 runs by DL method.
Uttara won the toss in the match and sent Gazi to bat first. They have posted 235 runs for nine wickets in 50 overs.
Myshukur Rahman and Mehedi Hasan set a solid start with their 81-runs stand in the first wicket. Both of them ended up scoring 44 each. However, the best scorer for Gazi was ShamsurRahman hitting 51 off 55 with five fours.
For Uttara, Abdur Rashid bagged three wickets while AsaduzzamanPayel, Anisul Islam Emon and Sheikh Humayun scalped two wickets each.
Due to the rain, Uttara needed 188 runs in 33 overs to seal the game. But they disappointed tumbling for 138 in 31 overs for eight wickets.
Anisul Islam Emon was the only batsman to show some resistance for Uttara striking 50 off 29 deliveries with four fours and five sixes. ShakhirHossain hit 28 but his effort went in vain as Uttara ended up losers.
For Gazi, Sanjit Saha bagged four wickets while Mehedi Hasan, Kamran Ghulam took two wickets each.
It was the third win of Gazi Group while Uttara suffered the sixth loss in the ongoing season of Dhaka League.
In another match of the day, Shinepukur Cricket Club stunned Prime Bank Cricket Club winning the game by 48 runs in DL method in Fatullah.
Shinepukur accumulated 245 runs for eight wickets in 50 over while batting first after winning the toss.
They lost two wickets in 11 runs; however, in the third wicket stand, Shadman Islam and TowhidHridoy added 125 runs on the board. Shadman ended scoring 78 while Hridoy struck 83. Along with them, ShuvagataHom added 44 runs.
For Prime Bank, right-handed all-rounder ArifulHaque bagged three wickets while Al Amin Hossain and MonirHossain took two wickets each.
In reply, Prime Bank needed 149 runs in 20 overs due to the rain. But they failed to chase it as the lost five wickets in 30 runs.
Anamul Haque Bijoy fell in the very first ball of the innings off Shoriful Islam. Ther others batsmen were also clueless in the middle as well.
The tumbled for 100 for nine wickets in 20 overs and lost the match by 48 runs.
It was the third win of Shinepukur in the league while Prime Bank suffered the second loss of the season.
