Two journalists who were assaulted and detained by members of the Detective Branch of Police while covering BNP procession in Habiganj, were released after four hours at 11:00 pm on Saturday
The two DB men are responsible for their action and departmental action will be taken against them for assaulting and detaining the two journalists, said Habiganj Additional Superintendent of Police Khalilur Rahman.

ASP Khalilur went to the Habiganj Press Club on Saturday and informed journalists about the departmental action on Saturday evening.
Detective Branch’s Sub-inspector Riaz and another DB personnel beat up Bangladesh Pratidin's Habiganj correspondent Zakaria Chowdhury and SA TV correspondent Abdur Rauf Selim while they were taking pictures and footage of BNP torch procession in Habiganj around 7pm on Saturday.
Even though they identified themselves as journalists, but were not spared.
When the matter came to light, the journalists held an emergency meeting at the Press Club. Meanwhile, Superintendent of Police SM Murad Ali was informed about the incident and he ordered the journalists to be released.
Later, Addl SP Khalilur Rahman and Habiganj Police Station OC Ajay Deb went to Habiganj Press Club and expressed regret over the incident.
