Three members of a family sustained burn injuries as a fire broke out in a flat at Painadi Siaikhola of Siddirganj upazila early Thursday.
Those sustained burn injuries are Kabir Hossain, 65, his wife Rekha Begum, 55 and daughter Sufia, 28.
Md Shahajahan, senior station officer of Adamjee EPZ fire service, said the fire broke out in the flat of Kabir Hossain on the 1st floor of 6-storey ‘Italy Building’ around 5:30 am following an explosion.
Hearing the sound, local people rushed to the spot, doused the fire and rescued the injured.
The injured were taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
Abdul Khan, assistant sub-inspector of DMCH police camp, said Kabir received 55 percent burn injury, Rekha Begum 20 percent and their daughter Sufia 5 percent.
The fire official said te fire might have originated from gas accumulated in the flat.
