Three separate committees have been formed to investigate the death of its three Government Railway Police (GPR) members in an accident on a level crossing in Sitakunda upazila of Chattogram on Sunday noon.
The committees were asked to submit their reports within seven working days.
Meanwhile, police filed a case accusing gateman Mahmud Hasan Dipu for his negligence in duty with Chattogram Railway Police Station on Sunday night, said Majharul Karim, officer-in-charge (OC) of the railway police station.

He said Fouzdarhat police outpost’s in-charge Samiur Rahman first lodged an FIR with the police station on Sunday night and then it was recorded as a case.
Police have already started investigating the incident, the OC said.
Meanwhile, Bangladesh Railway (BR) authorities suspended the accused gateman in this connection.
Of the investigation committees, Chattrogram district administration formed a five -member committee led by its Additional Deputy Commissioner Tanvir-Al-Naseef.
The committee included Sitakunda Circle’s Additional Superintendent of Police ABM Nayhanul Bari, Sitakunda Upazila Nirbahi Officer KM Rafiqul Islam, BR’s Chattogram Divisional Engineer Md Rafiqul Islam and Chattogram Fire Service and Civil Defence’s Assistant Director Md Abul Malek.
The Bangladesh Rrailway authorities formed a four-member probe ommittee.

Chattogram district police formed a three-member committee headed by Additional Superintendent of Police (admin) Kabir Ahmed, said Sitakunda Model Police Station’s OC Tofail Ahmed, adding that the committee will submit its report to the Superintendent of Police.
On Sunday noon, three constables of the GRP were killed and three others injured as the Chattogram-bound ‘Sonar Bangla’ train hit a police van on the level crossing in Fakirhat area under Sitakunda upazila in Chattogram.
